This competition aims to celebrate the rich tapestry of rural life and amplify the voices of rural students. We encourage all participants to embrace this opportunity to share their stories and creativity through poetry.

Winning students and runner-ups will attend the 2 day conference and winners will recite their poems in front of the attending dignitaries and delegates and have their poem featured on our main website.

Prizes:

Prizes will be awarded to the top poems, including certificates and recognition at our upcoming conference on rural education.

Submission Guidelines:

• Your poem should reflect the theme "Celebrating Rural Life."
• Poems can be written in any style
• Each student may submit one poem
• Poems should be original and previously unpublished

Who Can Participate:

All students from rural areas are eligible to enter (the competition will be split into 4categories:
Foundation Phase
Intermediate Phase Students
Junior High School students (Grade 8 & 9)
Senior High School Students (Grade 10 - 12)

Topics to choose from:

1. The Beauty of My Village:

Celebrating the natural landscapes, sights, and sounds of their rural home.

2. Morning in the Fields:

Describing the serene atmosphere and activities at dawn in rural fields.

3. Under the Mango Tree:

Recounting stories, gatherings, or moments of reflection under a beloved village tree.

4. The River's Song:

Capturing the rhythm and life of a river that flows through their village.

5. Stars over the Countryside:

Pondering the night sky and its mysteries in a rural setting.

6. Harvest Time:

Reflecting on the hard work and joy of bringing in crops during harvest season.

7. Schoolhouse Memories:

Nostalgic poems about their experiences and friendships at the local school.

8. The Road less Traveled:

Exploring the paths and journeys unique to rural life.

9. Sounds of the Farm:

Poems that highlight the unique sounds of farm animals and rural activities.

10. Seasons in the Village:

Describing the changes in nature and daily life throughout the seasons.
